2/14/10 Daphne is a sweet goofy girl who is a real diamond in the rough. She is a very unique mix- a wire-haired coat and fox terrier face on a coonhound size body, or maybe there's some Irish wolfohound in there. This poor girl came in skin and bones and still has some weight to gain. She is extremely friendly and will sit forever with her head in your lap being petted. Daphne is generally quiet but has a large vocabulary of whispery whines, moderate moans, and big barks, to let everyone know just how she's feeling. She is playful with all the other dogs, even the 15 pound doxy who bosses her around, and the 90 pound pup she's currently fostered with. She wants to play with cats, but will leave alone the dog savvy cats she's encountered here. Daphne clearly was never trained by her former owner and had to learn the ins and outs of being a housepet. She's doing well on a leash but needs more work to heel, is used to being crated (but doesn't like it) is housetrained, and knows come, sit, no, down, and the invisible fence. Daphne wants nothing more than to please and be loved. Who wouldn't want a sweetheart like her?
12/13/09 Danelle is a very unique looking wire-haired hound who has just arrived from an overcrowded shelter in SC. She is a friendly girl with people and dogs, but never had any training. She does want to please and we're working on house manners, leash walking, and basic obedience.
Notes from the shelter: Danelle was dropped off at the shelter b/c her Dad's life changed, he had to move & couldn't take her with him. He was sad he couldn't keep her. She is HW-, good with other dogs & with kids.
