Update from his foster family: He's great! It took him 3 months to get really get comfortable with all of us. Now it's hard to imagine that he was hiding in Mary's basement all that time. He is very loving and playful and rarely wants to be alone. Follows me everywhere. Not sure, but everyone thinks he's lost weight (probably from running all around and up and down the stairs). I never heard his history with other cats but when Sadie was here for a week, he wanted to play with her so bad but she wouldn't let him near her until the day before she went home. I was also told that McCoy was terrified of dogs, but when I had 2 dogs over, he followed them all over the house, just swatted their nose if they got too close. The dogs were scared of him. I don't think he would be good with small children, they make him nervous. Discovered yesterday that he loves cantaloupe (read that it's a healthy snack for cats and dogs).
Notes from the shelter:11/28/09 Silly Willie (McCoy) certainly deserves his name. You can see from his pictures that he loves to be held. What you don't see is that he also loves to play, and he'll play wherever he can! You'll often see him rooting through the newspaper in his cage and using it to hide (only so he can pounce on his toys, of course!). Silly Willie is one of our favorites, and he can be one of yours, too.
ADOPTION FEE All applicants must agree to pay the adoption donation fee in full at the time of adoption. This fee for a cat is currently $75 for a domestic cat ($50 each for two or more), and $150 for other breeds (Siamese, Persian, etc)andis needed to help recover some of the costs that TreeTops Animal Rescue incurs while rescuing the animal, fostering them in our homes, and providing them with medical care, as well as allowing us to continue to rescue other animals. Please understand that the actual cost to our rescue of caring for a cat until adoption averages $175, so we have to rely on donations to try and fill the gap. The adoption fee is ONLY refundable if a serious health problem arises within one week of adoption which should have been forseen by TreeTopsrescue while in foster care. For kittens too young to have been spayed or neutered, a $100 spay/neuter deposit must be paid upon adoption (or $50 each for two or more kittens) but will be refunded upon sending us documentation of alteration.
